Favorites arrive safely at women’s semifinals
BOQUERON, Cabo Rojo, july 26 2010.- Yarleen Santiago and Dariam
Acevedo of Puerto Rico, as Mayra Garcia and Bibiana Candelas of
Mexico sealed a direct ticket to the semifinals.
The home girls Santiago and Acevedo aren’t yet familiar with
defeat at the Games. Today they firmly prevailed over Orellana/Ramirez
(GUA) by 21-10 and 21-16, and later on over sisters Andrea and
Claudia Galindo of Colombia by 21-15 and 21-11.
“Grateful with our fan’s support, this is for them. We’ve worked
hard, but our mission is not yet complete,” expressed Santiago.
Mayra García y Bibiana Candelas are also in semifinals with no
defeats. They were strong in both wins, first over Dyette/Honore
(TRI) 21-08 and 21-10 and over Morales/Alfaro (CRC) by 21-10 and
21-15.
The Galindo sisters are in semifinals as Dyette/Honore (TRI)
forfeit due to medical prescription as one of them was injured.
“Our mind is always set on winning; we have to work on a good
strategy to keep moving on,” said Andrea.
Elsewhere, Morales/Alfaro (CRC) will stand up against Puerto
Rico in semifinal 2 as they defeated Orellana/Ramirez (GUA)
21-19 and 21-12 in the last match of the day. “We are very
satisfied to be in the best four of the Games, we know it’s
important to recover for tomorrow to put up a good fight against
Puerto Rico,” expressed Morales.
